Post Tour

After the conference we will take you along several highlights in the Netherlands. Apart from the tourist hot spots we will also present several projects related to water management and sustainability. We will show you that Rotary plays a big part in sharing this knowledge with other countries in the world. The program is designed to show you the beauty of a country that lies largely below sea-level.

See the windmills and the landscape that inspired the world famous Vincent van Gogh to start painting in his home town. Meet local Rotarians, exchange students and alumni so that you will understand more about Rotary in our country as well as our culture.

The Tour ends in Amsterdam where we take you on a boat trip on the picturesque canals and enjoy a farewell dinner in a unique setting.

The program in short:

Tour A : 13 – 15 September

Tour B : 13 – 18 September

Day 1

After breakfast a short trip for the presentation of the Dutch Rotary End Polio Now Tulip campaign.
Guided Tour at the Van Gogh Village in Nuenen where Vincent van Gogh started painting. Overnight stay in Breda with dinner planned in the hotel.

Day 2

Visit of the Delta works exhibition center Neeltje Jans. Our group can visit the dam and even go inside. This is very special – not everyone can go there as the area is restricted. All the exchange students come here as part of their program, that’s why we have included it in the tour.

After the visit the bus will take the group to Kinderdijk for a short stop to take some pictures of the famous Dutch windmills. The tour continues to the hotel in Rotterdam.

Dinner will be held on a steamboat that will pass the impressive skyline of Rotterdam. After the dinner cruise the bus will take the group back to the hotel.

Day 3 – Start of Tour B

Breakfast for Tour A and B.

Farewell to the participants of Tour A.

Tour B departs to the historic town of Delft for a guided city tour and a visit to the famous Royal Delft porcelain factory. The bus will take the group further up North to the picturesque Zaansche Schans for a visit to a cheese farm, a windmill and to see people making wooden clogs. Afer the visit the bus will drive the group to Hoorn to spend the night.

Day 4

In Monnikendam we will board a clipper boat. We will spend the day on board and head to Almere where the group will disembark and visit a new housing development project with a guide. Afterwards the bus will take the group to the hotel in Almere.

Day 5

Departure for Amsterdam. After a canal tour the group has free time to discover Amsterdam at leisure. At the end of the day a farewell dinner is planned.

Day 6

After breakfast we say goodbye and travel on individually.

Please note that we will organise meet and greets with local Rotarians during the program. At the Delta works for example (Day 2) and during the dinner cruise (Day 3). Other meetings are still to be determined. Exchange Students and Alumni are also participating in the program.
